History
W.R. Harvey & Co. (Antiques) Ltd was founded over sixty years ago by Walter Harvey.
Walter Harvey is still actively involved with the company whilst his son, David, is the Managing Director. Harvey's specialise in fine English antique furniture dating from the reigns of Charles II through to George IV. We were initially based in Chalk Farm, London where we also had our restoration and conservation departments. We then expanded to gallery premises in Old Bond Street in order to provide an unparalleled service to our constantly expanding international clientele.
Harvey's Georgian showrooms at 86 Corn Street, Witney
In 1996 we moved from London's Mayfair to our charming and spacious Georgian property at 86 Corn Street, Witney, Oxfordshire, where we are now able to display our outstanding stock of period pieces in delightful room settings. We have also recently moved our conservation department to Witney where it is personally supervised by David Harvey.
After over half a century in the business of antique dealing, we have acquired a splendid collection of quality items ranging from cabinets to clocks to beautiful works of art. Within our showrooms you will find excellently preserved pieces dating from the reigns of ten monarchs. These include items influenced by designers from William Kent to Thomas Hope, and produced by such craftsmen as Gillows of Lancaster, Chippendale, Linnell and Vile and Cobb executed in timbers as diverse as oak, Mahogany, Walnut, Satinwood, Rosewood and Kingwood
Whilst our main specialisation is fine English furniture of the 17th century, 18th century and early 19th century, collectors will also be pleased to know that we always have a wide range of smaller items in our showrooms. This includes china, glass, brassware, silver, pictures, paintings, engravings, boxes, snuff boxes and other small objets d'art.
Visit our showrooms in Witney, Oxfordshire, and you will find authentically decorated rooms displaying our stock of English antiques to their very best advantage. Indeed, our showrooms are so convincing that you would not be surprised to see Mr D'Arcy standing by our fire or Tristram Shandy stepping in through the door. An outstanding range of stock, backed up by our unsurpassed knowledge of English antique furniture between 1680 and 1830 makes a visit to W.R. Harvey & Co a necessity for every serious collector.
