Archive of news from Harvey'sSunshine and optimismPosted by David Harvey, Saturday 16 April 2011 ![]() Su-Su resting after a hard day at the office! I am absolutely delighted to report that we have had another good week here in Witney. The sun has shone most of the last week with only intermittent drizzle on occasions and Spring is very much in the air with Easter days away. In the showrooms several fresh pieces of stock have come on display including a gorgeous George III Irish Oval Mahogany Wake Table and a fabulous Partners' Pedestal Desk with Reading Stands to both sides. I will get all of these photographed as soon as possible so you can see them on this website. I have removed all the sold items from the last week and regret that the only new pictures on the website are those illustrations now available on the "Our People" page of our key members of staff. I do hope this does not frighten too many people but it is intended so that you have a better idea of who you are speaking to. At the same time as all the above activity, this website is attracting increasing numbers of collectors and we have noticed a marked increase in footfall here in the shop. This has been borne out by talking to colleagues and associates who have also seen a surge in interest for Fine Antique Furniture from early William and Mary pieces through the Georgian period to the Regency. We have also seen an upswing in calls and e-mailed enquiries from both far and near about many of the exciting pieces currently in stock. It may yet be early to say that business here in the UK has come out of the doldrums but there is a definite feeling of change about. Optimism does seem to be in the air! (I am not sure how much that is due to the next two weekends both being flanked by Bank Holidays!) I am extremely lucky to have recently re-acquired some of the finest pieces we have had in the past 60 years and will be letting you have a preview of these as soon as they are available. All in all, exciting times from a business point of view and it certainly bodes well for the Olympia Fair in June. The sky has now become a very dark grey colour and the first few spots of rain are falling. The time has come for me to light the open fire for the benefit of Su-Su, the cat. She will no doubt get used to the heat of the fire again just in time for this April Shower to blow away leaving blue skies and sunshine once more. I look forward to your further news and, hopefully, to seeing you soon, As ever, David | Videos ...
