A superb Oil on Canvas landscape by Edmund John Niemann of a Castle Ruins above a River Gorge and Aquaduct with a Shepherd and Sheep to the left above a rocky outcrop, one rock signed "Neimann" He flourished between 1844 and 1872 specialising in Yorkshire Landscapes and castle ruins such as Richmond in Yorkshire. He exhibited at the Royal Academy (29) British Institution (45) Suffolk Street (40)and various (63).This picture bears an old label with the artists details etc.to the reverse. He was a prolific and well recognised artist who was very much sought after during his own lifetime and this is a fine examole of his work. He lived in Beaconsfield and his son, Edward H Niemann also became an artist using his father's style as a template There is a label to the reverse which reads: ""This picture has been cleaned, restored and revarnished by Stacy-Marks Ltd, Art Dealers, 120-122, Terminus Road, Eastbourne, Sussex Present Owner:M.
