2008 just gets better and better!!

The Esher Antiques Fair

This was the debut for the Esher Antiques Fair at the Esher Hall on the Sandown Races Complex. It was an excellent venue with high quality exhibits and visitors. We sold a number of pieces to both existing and new clients and look forward to returning there next year. This fair deserves to do well.

2008 certainly got off to a great start for Harveys at the NEC fair. The National Fine Art and Antiques Fair has gone from strength to strength and the numbers of people attending were a very heartening sight with the fair opening every morning to a long queue of eager visitors.

A number of serious collectors appear to be diversifying away from riskier areas such as stocks and shares which are proving somewhat volatile. Traditionally, Antiques do well in times of uncertainty!

Hickory, Dickory, Dock -The dealer stopped the clock!
This is the title for Harveys' 2008 Annual Exhibition which is going to be great fun as it shows an Englishman's Home with the clocks stopped at different times of the day to give a snapshot of Georgian Living. More details will be released over the coming months and it will once again be held as part of the Cotswold Antique Dealers Association fortnight of selling exhibitions which will run from October 4th. to 19th. 2008. Make a note in your diary now for this not to be missed exhibition.

News page photo
Metamorphic furniture has become extremely collectable and none more so than this ingenious drop leaf table which doubles as an Architects Table with an adjustable easel section and pull out adjustable brass trays to stand candlesticks on to illuminate whatever one was working on. This rare example dates from early in the 19th. Century and is Regency Ingenuity personified.
